10th Annual Sportsman's Day at the Capitol
Wednesday, February 08, 2012

9am - 2pm
Georgia Capitol
South Wing Steps, Atlanta

The Georgia Wildlife Federation, the Camo Coalition, and sportsman’s groups from all over the state will descend upon downtown Atlanta next Wednesday, Feb. 8th for the 10th annual Sportsman’s Day At the Capitol.

“This is a great opportunity for all Georgia sportsmen to get together at the Capitol and to talk with their own representative about the issues that are important to them,” said Jerry McCollum, President and CEO of the Georgia Wildlife Federation.

The event is a chance to meet and greet representatives and state officials while discussing the issues on the sportsmen’s agenda for the year. Sportsmen and conservation groups from around the state will be on hand with displays, educational materials, and activities.

Georgia is one of the top hunting destinations in the nation and hunting and angling create more than $2 billion dollars in economic activity in Georgia. Sportsmen directly contribute millions of dollars each year to conservation efforts through the purchase of tags and licenses.

The gathering will begin around 9 a.m. and speakers will begin around lunch. We expect the usual group or state leaders to speak this year, including Governor Nathan Deal, the Speaker of the House, Lieutenant Governor and the Chairman of the Sportsman’s Caucus.

Sportsmen are encouraged to wear a piece of camo clothing to the event. Guns and knives are prohibited on the Capitol grounds.
