Weigh in on Tax Credits for Land Conservation

You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom.

Issue

Following the strong advice and pressure from many members of the Camo Coalition, the Georgia House of Representatives passed HB 1107 by a vote of 156 to zero. The bill now moves to the State Senate and we need the Camo Coalition to now take action.

Background

As hunters and anglers, we all appreciate a conservation ethic that protects our traditions and heritage of hunting and fishing in Georgia. Governor Sonny Perdue recently had HB 1107 introduced by his House Floor Leaders. This legislation authorizes tax credits for the establishment of conservation easements and other conservation measures on private lands. The tax credits are available to both individuals and corporations wishing to protect the natural character of their land. With your support, this important conservation tool will be passed by the Georgia Senate and sent to the Governor to sign into law.

Please send this Camo Coalition message or provide your own personal message of support to your State Senator. By sending this message, hunters and fishermen will be sending the right message to all of Georgia on the importance of conservation and passing our natural history heritage to future generations.

From Your Constituent - Support HB 1107

Dear Senator,

As a member of the Camo Coalition and an avid outdoorsman, I fully support Governor Perdue’s effort to pass legislation promoting and encouraging private and corporate land conservation. Governor Perdue has said many times and I agree that, “If we take care of the land, it will take care of us.” Conserving valuable natural land protects quality habitats for wildlife that in turn benefits not only Georgia’s hunters and fishermen, but every Georgian. Please support HB 1107 creating tax credits for donated conservation interests as a way for Georgia’s citizens, private and corporate, to conserve Georgia’s precious natural resources for future generations of Georgians.
