Water Planning Critical to Great Fishing in Georgia Rivers

Background

Did you know that the state of Georgia is creating a Statewide Water Management Plan on your behalf? But did you also know that public access and input is limited because the Georgia Water Council is scheduled to hold only four meetings on the first two Management Objectives?

The Georgia Water Council is hosting Town Hall meetings in MARIETTA, MACON, TIFTON, and SAVANNAH during the week of July 10. If you live near these cities, please attend these vitally important meetings. Click on the "More" button to get specific times and locations.

If you do not live near one of these cities and would like to have a Town Hall meeting near you.....

Request for Water Council Meeting

Dear
I would like to request a town hall meeting with representatives of the Georgia Water Council in . I believe that the Comprehensive Statewide Water Management Plan will have a very significant impact on citizens in our area, and I would like to have the opportunity to comment on the first two management objectives at the town hall meetings you are planning to hold this summer.

It is my understanding that the town hall meetings are currently limited to Marietta, Macon, Tifton, and Savannah because all Water Council members are expected to attend. I recognize that the Water Council members have busy schedules, and so it is not critical that all Water Council members attend each meeting. I believe that providing a variety of locations so that citizens can attend and express their views should be a top priority for the Water Council, regardless of whether all Water Council members can attend. I will be glad to have your capable EPD staff report our public views to the Council. But we should have that opportunity here in our community.

I appreciate your consideration and hope that the Georgia Water Council will host a town hall meeting in this summer. I am anxious to participate, and I have been led to believe that this plan would have very broad opportunities for public review and comment.
