Support Hunting on Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the directions at the bottom. Send your comments to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service in support of hunting on Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge An anti-hunting group called the “Fund for Animals” filed a lawsuit against the US Fish and Wildlife Service seeking to stop hunting on several National Wildlife Refuges across the nation. One of the refuges listed in the suit is the Bond Swamp Refuge located in Bibb and Twiggs counties. As a result of the Court order, the Bond Swamp Refuge was required to amend its supporting documents that open the refuge to hunting. They have completed the Draft Sport Hunting Plan and Environmental Assessment for this purpose. There are two alternatives listed: Camo Coalition and the Georgia Wildlife Federation are opposed to the first alternative; 1) No Action – which ends hunting on Bond Swamp. We support this action; 2) Proposed Action – this would allow hunting of white-tailed deer and feral hogs. Alternative 2 would allow hunting to continue as proposed in the original hunting plan. Public comment ends this Thursday, April 5th. Please take a minute to comment on this proposal. The US Fish and Wildlife Service needs hunters comments for their records to reflect that there is strong support for the Proposed Action alternative number 2 from the public. Strong public support will insure hunting will continue at the Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. Each and every one of us will make a difference for hunting and hunters in Georgia.
