Hold Onto Your Wallet...Sportsmen prepare to protect your money!
You can take action on this alert by reading the information below and following the
directions at the bottom.

Get ready for the 2010 General Assembly.
1) SPORTSMAN PROGRAMS: DNR Needs Budget Support 2) SPORTSMAN’S DAY AT THE CAPITOL: Thursday, Jan. 14th, 8a.m.-Noon 3) Change in Legislative Leadership 4) GROW the CAMO COALITION: 2,010 new members in 2010!!! 5) TAKE ACTION and let us know that we can count on you during the 2010 Session
Today, January 11, 2010, was the first day of the Georgia General Assembly. This year will be critical to many sportsmen issues relating to the state budget, water, professional wildlife management, land conservation, and the direction taken by future leadership and elected officials. THE BUDGET STORM IS BREWING!!!!!
Standby for future action alerts to PROTECT SPORTSMAN DOLLARS; the DNR needs our support for its budget! With license system changes, there is more than $2.5 million more dollars in the general fund and it belongs to you -- GEORGIA HUNTERS AND FISHERMEN! Don’t let crafty politicians pick your pocket!!! YOUR MONEY is at risk of being stolen, redirected, and pilfered by those bureaucrats and legislators intent on reducing, removing, ending or killing sportsmen’s programs in Georgia.
Mark your calendar for this Thursday, January 14th for SPORTSMAN’S DAY AT THE CAPITOL. Conservation organizations, hunters, and anglers from across Georgia will gather at the Georgia State Capitol to meet and greet our state legislators. The Governor and other state leaders are scheduled to speak at 9:00 a.m. Take this opportunity to thank your legislator, in person, for their public service to our state and extend your support for the future of wildlife conservation in Georgia. Also, make time to thank State Representative David Knight and State Senator Bill Heath for their leadership in the Georgia Legislative Sportsmen's Caucus. Because of their leadership and commitment to high standards of hunting and fishing ethics, the sportsman’s voice is present under the gold dome.
During the 2010 session, we will witness a change in the leadership of the House of Representatives. We will see new faces in control of our legislative process with the hopes that sportsman’s programs, and wildlife habitat and land conservation funding will become a priority with future state leaders. Stay tuned to your local news media for updates on Georgia’s legislative power shift.
Recalling legislative initiatives during the 2009 General Assembly Session, we should stay diligent in our efforts to defeat SB 12 that would have negative consequences to our Second Amendment Right. Recall, Georgia Sportsmen have, to date, stopped SB 12 from passage as it lingers in committee. Be prepared to contact your legislators concerning any legislation that might impact hunting and fishing for all Georgians and our visiting sportsmen. Let’s work together for professional wildlife management, land and wildlife habitat conservation, and responsible budgetary stewardship of sportsmen’s dollars and fees.
This year, the Camo Coalition needs to increase our active impact at the General Assembly. Our goal is to ask for your help in 2010 by recruiting 2,010 new and active members to the Camo Coalition network. Please pass this message on to your family, friends and co-workers. Encourage them to be a “citizen soldier” for hunting, fishing, and the future of our time-tested outdoor traditions. The Camo Coalition is FREE to join and easy to use. As easy as “clicking a button”, your voice will be heard by your state Representative, Senator and political leadership.
TAKE ACTION and let us know that you are ready and willing to protect your hunting and fishing tradition. TEST THE SYSTEM so that you are ready to take action when it counts the most. Together, we can deliver a unified and strong voice to each member of the General Assembly.
Thank you,
Glen Dowling, Executive Vice-President Georgia Wildlife Federation
